The Ashland University Student Health Center provides quality healthcare to all students. If you feel unwell, require medical testing or have questions about our services, please make an appointment. Our team is fully dedicated to treating patients with dignity and respect. Our goal —in addition to providing proper care—is to improve students' awareness and knowledge and to encourage them to take an interest in their health.

The Student Health Center is located on the first floor of the Student Center, next to the Safety Services office.

Appointments at the Student Health Center are available 9 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and 1 - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Health Center is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and during lunch, the holidays and the summer semester.

Full-time, undergraduate students at Ashland University are charged a campus access fee every semester, which covers the cost of these services:

  • General visits to the nurse, nurse practitioner and/or physicians
  • Over-the-counter medications and commonly prescribed antibiotics and antifungals
  • Lab testing for strep, mono, pregnancy and urinalysis (as needed)
    • Tests requiring the use of outside facilities will incur a fee, which may be paid with cash, check, credit/debit card or billed to your health insurance. The exact fee is determined by Quest Diagnostics and depends on the type of test.
  • Flu immunizations
  • University-required accident insurance

The following services are not covered by the campus access fee and must be paid by the patient:

  • Tuberculosis tests ($10 each)
  • Physical exams required for work or school ($30 each)
  • Other immunizations/boosters (cost depends on time and service)
  • Radiology services such X-rays and ultrasounds through external providers (cost depends on time and service and will be billed to your health insurance)

You may receive allergy injections at the Student Health Center with the following provisions:

  • You must receive the initial injection from your allergist
  • Your allergist must send documentation of your order(s) with specific instructions for administration
  • You must provide the serum ordered from your allergist
  • A physician or nurse practitioner must be present in the Student Health Center for you to receive your allergy injection. Note that there may be times during the academic year when healthcare providers are unavailable and other arrangements must be made.

  • Wait and call the Student Health Center during office hours at 419-289-5200 to schedule an appointment.

Medical Excuse Policy

The Ashland University Student Health Center does not issue medical excuses.

Students are responsible for notifying professors of absence from class due to short term illness/injury. In the event that the medical staff feels an illness/injury will require three or more days of missed classes, the Health Center will notify the office of Academic Advising. Confidentiality will be maintained and a reason for absence will not be disclosed.

THE STUDENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTACTING EACH PROFESSOR TO DISCUSS MISSED CLASSWORK.
